Overview

Anthem is a smaller insurance company under the larger flagship company of Blue Cross Blue Shield. Anthem is a fairly new insurance option; it was established in 2004. Compared to some other insurance companies that have been around for decades, this makes choosing Anthem a bit of a gamble, but it makes up for its lack of history with its plentiful options.

PolicyScout Review

Anthem is not one of the largest insurance programs, so many people are concerned they won’t be able to have access to the help they need through this program. In addition, Anthem is not available in all 50 states. However, choosing a company like Anthem can ensure that you receive specific, focused attention, especially when you are discussing your policy of choice with a representative. Anthem also offers discounts for those who pay through an electronic transfer, those who pay their entire payment rather than paying in stages, and/or those who are married.

Anthem has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, and it has impressive financial ratings. You can find many benefits with signing up for Anthem Medicare insurance, provided that you live in one of the states that are eligible for service.

Special Features Offered

SilverSneakers is a program offered to those enrolled in an Anthem Medicare Supplement Plan. It offers a free or low cost gym membership for Medicare beneficiaries enrolled. Availability does vary by state and plan but you can put in your state on Anthem's website to see if this program is available in your state.
